[close]"The Merry Wives of Windsor" Shakespeare Play, Murphys- 209-754-17743 July, 2008 to 26 July, 2008 "The Merry Wives of Windsor," runs from June 27th through July 26th featuring one of Shakespeare's most unforgettable characters, Sir John Falstaff, at his scheming best. Desperate to pay his way out of a scandalous debt, Falstaff contrives to seduce the wives of Masters Page and Ford, in order to blackmail money out of the two shamed wives. However, Falstaff has severely underestimated the wiles of these clever dames, who quickly discover his plot and set out to turn the tables against him! With jealous husbands, clever ladies, a meddlesome matchmaker, and a virtuous daughter in search of true love, all set against an outrageous backdrop of a contemporary trailer park.
The Murphys Creek Theatre chose the Calaveras Arts Council to host the Preview because of the council's long-standing dedication to cultural enrichment in Calaveras County, and all Preview proceeds will benefit the Calaveras Arts Council.
Wine and light refreshments will be available for purchase at the venue. Seating is festival style, so bring low-backed chairs. A limited number of Adirondack chairs are available for rent.
