The Angels Camp Boosters Club was formed in 1925. It was comprised of businessmen from Angels Camp and Altaville. They ‘boosted’ the economy of Angels Camp and the surrounding communities. Three years after formation, the boosters held a celebration for the first paving of Main Street. The theme was based on the Mark Twain story, “The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County.”
